RAYTISCH.NET
RAYTISCH.NET
I started my website on 2-7-21 by purchasing a web hosting plan on DreamHost.com. The plan also included one custom domain which I created RAYTISCH.NET. The actual website is a WordPress website running on the DreamHost server.
I've been running for years a Synology NAS unit on my home network primarily for file sharing. I run the phpBB discussion board at home on my NAS unit. The Synology NAS unit also runs the interface to the library of family pictures and videos. The Synology NAS unit has 4 hard drives with redundancy. If one drive fails, you don't lose your data.
I recently started using a ProtonMail email hosting account tied to my custom domain name so you can email me at ray@raytisch.net. This email address is independent of any particular email host. It's portable, kinda like your cell phone number between carriers.
Why do all this? Mainly for security and independence. Ask yourself what would happen if you were suddenly and without warning no longer allowed to access your email or social media accounts. I don't see the trend of censorship, banning, de-platforming & other cancel culture effects ending anytime soon. One wrong comment and you and your data are toast.
I hope I can encourage you and others to become more independent from Big Tech.
